Scott Coombes is the Director and Principal Consultant of CC&E, bringing more than 20 years
of experience across oil and gas, mining, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure and heavy industry.
He is a Registered Professional Engineer (Queensland), Chartered Engineer, and Certified Practising
Project Manager with extensive experience leading multidisciplinary engineering, project delivery,
operations and technical assurance teams.
Throughout his career, Scott has successfully delivered projects ranging from concept development
and feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational
support. His experience spans greenfield and brownfield developments, major capital projects,
production facilities, process systems, pipelines, wellsite infrastructure, fluid treatment facilities,
pressure equipment and industrial plant.
As General Manager Engineering and Engineering Manager at CS Gas, Scott led engineering and
project teams of more than 30 personnel while supporting operational teams exceeding 40 staff.
He was responsible for engineering governance, project delivery, business growth, contract
management, technical assurance, commissioning, and the development of project and engineering
systems supporting more than $20 million of active projects and $10 million in annual service
revenue.
Prior to this, Scott held project management and engineering roles with Origin Energy, delivering
major coal seam gas developments, compression facilities, gathering systems, exploration
infrastructure and the landmark Aquifer and Brine Injection Trial Program. This program
progressed from concept through operation and demonstrated innovative water management
solutions that provided significant environmental, operational and commercial benefits.
Today, through CC&E, Scott provides consulting, project management, engineering management,
technical advisory and design assurance services to clients across the energy, resources and
industrial sectors. Recent work includes project development and capital planning,
engineering management for innovative drilling and production technologies, HAZOP and
risk facilitation, design reviews, compliance assessments, and independent technical
assurance for major projects.
Scott is recognised for combining practical engineering knowledge with strategic project
leadership. He is particularly passionate about developing fit-for-purpose solutions
that balance technical excellence, safety, operability and commercial outcomes, while
leveraging modularisation, standardisation and whole-of-life asset thinking to maximise
value for clients.
